American Public Health Association

The American Public Health Association is a national nonprofit focused on improving the health of all people in all communities. As a member of APHA’s communications staff, I created press materials, news articles, and marketing collateral to support the organization’s mission of creating better health outcomes for all.

Press Releases

From new public health research, to event announcements, to statements from our executive director, I drafted press releases to share with the media on a variety of newsworthy topics.

Get Ready Campaign

APHA’s Get Ready campaign helps Americans prepare for natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and other emergencies. Each year Get Ready holds a contest where people submit themed photos to be included in a calendar with emergency preparedness tips. I had a lot of fun managing the 2016 contest, which featured adorable animals of all kinds.

Social

With a wealth of public health topics, there was never any shortage of engaging and informative content to share on APHA’s social media. I managed APHA’s Facebook and YouTube pages and worked as part of the organization’s social team to find ways to best leverage important public health messages.
